The hottest hits of 2009 are sound tracking a long road trip this morning as a group of friends embark on a weekend getaway.

With windows down and the sound of the Black Eyed Peas pumping, friends Alex, Xian and Hamish have piled into the car of their mate Lincoln Humphrey, a friend they love dearly, despite the fact he’s a chaotic mess of a human.

With the group heading out for a weekend at Opalton for the annual toad races, it’s believed some car troubles forced them to all pile into Lincoln’s 2007 Hyundai Elantra at the last minute, a car which resembles a tip given its floor is a carpet of fast food wrappers.

But just to make today’s drive even more memorable, The Advocate can report Spotify won’t be getting any airtime today, as Lincoln’s car doesn’t have Bluetooth or an auxiliary port.

“Who wants to play DJ, here plug this in!” Lincoln exclaimed, triumphantly holding up a 5th generation Pod attached to a tangled up FM transmitter.

“The car’s a bit old, so we have to tune music to the radio!” S

taring blankly at the prehistoric device, Lincoln’s friends were once again baffled that this man who they call a friend, manages to work 9-to-5 as a corporate lawyer and still be a cold cut screw up in every other aspect of his life.

“Man, how do you live like this?” asked mate Hamish, twisting the car’s radio dial, trying to sync up the transmitter to 88.3 FM.

But after scrolling through the iPod’s collection of absolute bangers like “Day n’ Nite” by Kid Cudi and Miley’s “Party In The USA”, Lincoln’s friends decided to just lean into his quirky ways and enjoy the ride.

“I’m in your playlists section, you still have a mixtape called ‘Year 10 Formal Trax’ on here,” declared Hamish with a mix of amusement and disbelief.

“Yeah man put that one on,” Lincoln replied, “I think there’s a few good Flo Rida songs on there…”
