A Betoota Heights man has been forced to start looking for a new job this week, after being unceremoniously shown the door at his previous workplace.
Eli Ashcroft from Betoota Heights was fired from Toke N Sons yesterday after failing to meet the company’s standards when it comes to drug tests.
Enjoying a respected reputation as one of Betoota Heights most trusted concreters, TNS have long maintained a random drug testing policy.
Like many larger companies, they reserve the right to drug test their employees at any point during their shifts – something which ended poorly for Eli.
After a nervous wait, Eli confirmed that his test came back with a negative result for him, and his job.
“There were no signs of anything in his system,” sighed a spokesperson for the company.
“We asked him honestly and gave him a chance to dig himself out of the situation, by confirming he’d had a couple of bongs a couple of weeks ago and it’s not showing up for some reason.”
“But he told us that he’s been straight for months, and hasn’t had so much as a puff on a mates joint or weed vape.”
“Unfortunately, we had to let him go.”
“We don’t ask for anything hectic, but we do expect a certain standard at the company and unfortunately for Eli he is incompatible with our culture.”
More to come.
