Social distancing measures continue to ramp up across Australia in the wake of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
As of 6:00am today, there have been 5,744 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Australia. This number is up 109 new cases since 6:00am yesterday.
Of the 5,744 confirmed cases in Australia, 36 have died from COVID-19. More than 299,000 tests have been conducted across Australia.
With Easter just around the corner, state governments have begun closing public beaches due to the inability of wealthy people to not make the slightest compromises to help the community defeat the spread of Coronavirus.
However, despite all of the warnings by both state and federal government – Betoota is today reeling from a disgraceful display of selfishness from our own residents in our town’s centre today.
At approximately 3pm this afternoon, Betoota’s iconic inner-city parklands ‘Jason Little Reserve’ were bustling with hundreds of people who are supposedly meant to be working from home.
The park-goers have been shamed today on social media, after photos emerged of the crowds violating social distancing protocol while the locals went outside and attempted to exercise at the same time this afternoon.
The pictures were uploaded online by local Boomer, Meredith Carter (68) who had arrived at the parklands to do the exact same thing as those that she photographed, except decided against it when she realised she had stumbled across a perfect opportunity to shame people online.
“THIS. IS. NOT. GOOD. ENOUGH” posted Meredith, alongside the photos she had taken of the stir-crazy local families who were trying to get out of the house for an hour after school.
“THESE PEOPLE ARE PUTTING EVERYONE AT RISK”
Predicatbly, her sentiments were shared by thousands of social media users after Facebook post went viral.
“Fucken grubs. Shoot the lot of them” wrote one gorgeous sunset on Facebook this afternoon.
“I can’t even go fishing in my tinnie and these fkn idiots are alloud to cough all over each other in the park fkn bullshit. they should . be hung drawed and quarters!” wrote another Harley Davidson logo.
“Hmmm lots of people love infrienging on personal freedoms it seems” wrote a lonely libertarian with an IPA photo filter.
At time of press, Meredith was seen googling other large parks she could possibly visit to catch people out of the house.
