As the cost of living crisis rolls on for another week, The Betoota Advocate has decided to let our readers in on a little hack to save some coin.

As the cost of everything gos through the roof as a result of the ‘free market’ doing what the free market does, beers at your local watering hole have also been caught up in the madness.

With $5 dollar happy hour schooners seeming like a magical yesteryear thing similar to that bag of lollies your dad’s sports canteen used to sell back in the day for 5c – any way to save on an evening out is worth its weight in gold.

So, with that in mind, here’s how to save a good chunk of money when you are trying to tip a few over with some people who like to fill their boots.

Make sure you get in first!

Look like a good bloke who wants to get his mates beers and quickly rush off to the bar with a vague idea of what people want to order.

Caught up in the excitement of it all you will often be looked upon kindly for seizing the initiative and getting on the front foot.

Then, when you get to the bar, you order a whole round of schooners!

Hang on, I hear you ask, what’s so bad about that?

Well when you are with boot fillers, you know they’ll be ordering pints.

So, you order schooners, because schooners are on average any where between 3-5 dollars cheaper, PER BEER!

So you could save yourself the better part of 20 or 30 bucks just with this one simple trick.

The key is making sure that you split the rounds up after it’s complete.

You don’t want to be caught having to cough up a round of pints when you might only get a couple back as the night disintegrates.

So remember next time you are back at the pub, go first, go fast and go hard.

More to come.
