A local pixel pusher who inhabits a cubicle in Betoota’s Old City district has today had a moment of realisation.

The young engineer who grew up on the mean streets of Brisbane’s Greenslopes before moving to the Betoota area said the moment occurred after he realised how much he just paid for a new set of wheels.

While he drives a leased $80,000 ute that he has no real need for other than to prove to the more hands on blokes on site that he has a man card, it’s actually the two wheel vehicle he’s just purchased that has been responsible for the sobering thought.

“Fuck, the new road bike actually cost way more than the first car I ever purchased,” laughed Tony Shouldice.

“And that Pulsar was my fucking pride and joy.”

“I saved up like a year’s worth of pay from the bakery for that fucker.”

“And then a few weeks ago I just dropped more than that on a Pedal Pulsie”

“Ah well, that’s just the way it goes.”

“Im moving it up in life, and what’s the point of getting a decent pay cheque if you don’t enjoy it.”

Our reporter nodded in agreement.

“I wonder whether that Pulsie is still whipping around,” he laughed.

“Probably doing a few Maccas runs I’d say.”

“Fuck I’d love to have that metabolism again.”

“God, I used to eat a lot of that shit,” finished the man who is now staring down the barrel of a chicken, broccoli and brown rice lunch.
