As if job searching wasn’t stressful enough some companies have reportedly made the process 10 x harder with the use of online forms. Selina Newell, a disgruntled job seeker, tells our reporter that she’s seriously thinking of just getting back into hospo, as she’s absolutely had it with technology.
“It’s so fucking hard”, says Selina.
“Not only does every company want a personalised cover letter where you have to address all the questions asked in the position description…”
“But then they ask you to manually fill in your resume AFTER YOU’VE UPLOADED IT.”
“And whatever AI they’re using always gets it fucked so it actually takes more time to fix it than it would to have started from scratch.”
“And nine times out of ten you have to put in the dates you’ve worked using drop-down menus because fucking typing it would be too easy.”
“It’s twelve-step fucking process just so you can get an automated email saying you haven’t got the job.”
Selina reveals that she’d reached breaking point when yet another company ghosted her, after getting her to jump through a series of hoops just to land an interview.
“It’s seriously fucked. I applied for this job and they made me do a Skype interview, physical interview, IQ test, and a bullshit assignment.”
“Told me six weeks later that I didn’t get the job.”
“Like no fucking shit sherlock, worked that one out.”
Selina says she now only applies to companies that make the process relatively easy, even if it means passing over her dream job.
“Yeah mate, I’ve been burnt too many times. It’s a bloody full-time job just trying to get one.”
