Betoota local Tommy Hammond is having trouble keeping on top of his rapidly expanding social life these days after his recent purchase of a rusty Chrysler Town & Country ute.
“I couldn’t believe it” said Tommy, as he marked yet another housewarming date on a busy-looking calendar.
“You know, I had a few mates already, but suddenly everyone wants to be my friend and invite me to their housewarming party. I got one the other day and I had to call him up to find out who he was, because I had never even met him. Apparently he is the brother-in-law of some guy who did some tiling in my cousin’s laundry. Sounds like it could be a pretty good party, and it’s only 5 minutes away in Betoota Glade, which is convenient because he wants me to pick up a bar fridge and a fishtank on the way over.”
Meanwhile, Tommy’s Dad’s poker buddy’s car detailer is looking forward to meeting Tommy at his own housewarming party at Betoota Links Estate this Saturday.
The party is so exclusive that besides the host, the only invitees are Tommy and the host’s brother, who unlike the host, doesn’t have a crook back.
“Yeah, I hear he’s a great guy so naturally he was at the top of the guest list, and I’m interested to find out what the hell a Town & Country ute looks like. All I know is that it has a tray big enough for a drill press, a chest freezer and a barbecue, which is convenient because that is exactly what I needed someone to bring to my new place. Yeah, it will be great to meet Timmy. Tommy, I mean. Yeah. Tommy.”
