What started out as a generous and loving gesture has this afternoon ended in disaster after local man Geoff Walker was unable to find his girlfriend at Betoota Airport’s express pick up area, causing Geoff to crack the shits and leave the airport all together.
The trouble started after Geoff instructed his girlfriend, Tessa, to meet him at the express pick up area. A simple enough instruction, except for the fact that there were two express pick up areas and Geoff and Tessa were at different areas.
The Advocate happened to get hold of the couples phone transcript, which shows just how quickly things escalated at the airport.
“You can’t be at the express pick up because that’s where I am and you’re not here” Geoff snapped around his girlfriend.
“But I am at the express pick up, I don’t understand… is the one you’re at yellow?” Tessa said.
“Yes, it is yellow. You’re not here, for fuck sake, Tessa. Where are you?” Geoff said.
“I really don’t understand, I am at the yellow area” replied a confused Tessa.
“This is ridiculous you obviously aren’t, why don’t you just get an Uber and I’ll meet you at home” Geoff continued, now sounding completely insane.
Eventually Tessa realised there were two separate pick up areas and was able to give Geoff directions to the area she was at.
It just goes to show that no matter how well sign posted an area is, you must always assume that there will be some dumb bloke with a short temper that just doesn’t know how to read simple signage.
