A Betoota Heights man has today taken some time to himself, after a tough 24 hours.

Brangus Graham says he’s taken the day off work to mourn the passing of an esteemed figure.

The local office guy from our town’s CBD explained that he’s paying his respects to Pope Francis, after the leader of the Catholic Church’s passing yesterday.

“It’s about respect mate,” said Brangus from the front bar of the Betoota Heights Tavern.

Brangus explained that after hearing the terrible news last night, he immediately told his boss that he wouldn’t be able to report for duty this morning.

“We are in mourning, and that mean’s I don’t need to be pushing pixels today.”

“And it’s great to see our politicians down tools in the middle of a campaign and respecting the life and times of a great Pope.”

“So I think it’s only right that I do the same,” he said, taking a nice long sip from a beautifully crisp schooner.

“My boss wasn’t very impressed, but I didn’t tolerate his blasphemy.”

More to come.
