A Betoota Heights Public (BHP) teacher has today thrown in the towel, it can be confirmed.
Sophie Willet said she’s given up trying to police the book week fancy dress parade.
This comes as the school and the nation roll through the fourth day of Book Week.
Book Week is an annual event each year, that sees schools and public libraries across Australia spend a week celebrating books, Australian authors and illustrators.
Parents are encouraged to dress their kids up for the week and get into the spirit of reading.
However, the dress up theme is one that can often not be strictly adhered to by parents and or children.
And after a big week, local teacher’s like Sophie said they ‘can’t even’ anymore.
“I’m done haha,” laughed Sophie.
“I’m clearly getting nowhere trying to explain that dress up as one of the Tillies isn’t really a book week theme.”
“I know Steph Catley’s written a book, but come on.”
“Dressing up as Matilda from the Dahl book, now that’s good.”
“But dressing up as a Tillie or Lebron isn’t exactly it haha.”
“Good on them for making an effort and not being one of the over top competitive parents I guess.”
“What can you do.”
