Despite being a relatively well-adjusted young woman, Melanie Pope is a sucker for a bad boy. In fact, she’d hasten to say that her taste in men was questionable at best.
But considering she grew up consuming the likes of The Vampire Diaries, The OC, Gossip Girl and the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice, it’s easy to see where Melanie’s love of bad boys came from. Or at least, bad boys written by women, who passionately love the protagonist whilst being awful to everybody else.
In reality, the closest Melanie can get to landing her very own Ryan Atwood is finding a bloke sporting a Tapout shirt, who’s listed ‘FIFO worker’ on his Tinder profile – but very likely peddles drugs if the tagline ‘white or clear hmu’ is anything to go by.
She speaks to our reporter Effie about her debacle, explaining the reasoning behind her poor judgement.
“There’s just something terribly enticing about neck tattoos”, admits Melanie.
“I just want someone to get in a jealous bar fight over me, is that too much to ask?”
More to come.
