The two major parties vying for glory in the tightly and viciously contested upcoming US election have today agreed to keep seeing eye to eye on a major issue.
The Republicans and the Democrats, and their associated media machines, have formed a pact to continue discrediting Robert F Kennedy Jr (RFK Jr) at every single opportunity they can.
This comes as the parties continue to battle one each other over lingering issues like whether it’s okay for the President to be a convicted felon or a senile geriatrics.
Since last week’s nightmare Presidential debate, which was held four month prematurely in case one of these old blokes dies from old age, internal momentum has been gathering have Joe Biden ousted as the Democratic Presidential Nominee.
While a number of names have been floated around, RFK Jr is still being told to stay well outside the Democratic tent.
Party insiders have maintained that RFK Jr is way too much of a ‘nut job’ to be given the keys to the car, constantly citing some of his eyebrow raising takes on medical science and a fair few out-there theories about international statecraft and intelligence.
Party insiders have of course made sure not to cite his record as an environmental lawyer holding major corporations to account for things like polluting the Hudson River, or calling for an end to the military industrial complex that has plagued the United States for so long, or calling for an end to the privatised prison system that locks up at risk youth to the personal benefit of a select few state-subsised billionaires.
The generally skeptical nature of the man has apparently come as a surprise to people, who seem to forget both his dad and his uncle were murdered by being shot in the head while holding public office.
Those high profile murders have been shrouded in mystery ever since, with the government still refusing to release all of the files on the shooting of President JFK.
It has not really been considered that by growing up as a young man who had a dad and uncle publicly executed by nobody in particular, RFK Jr may have paid attention to some of the theories that the CIA (an organisation that had admitted to being involved in the killing of millions of people around the world) may have been involved with killing people at home.
Neither consideration has been given to the fact that life experiences may have also framed his skepticism of conventionally accepted norms, normally dictated by the large corporations and institutions.
However, in an increasingly polarised political landscape where you can’t look at anything with a shade of nuance, that questioning of the status quo is just too out there for a political candidate – even though 18% (Ipsos poll) are considering voting for him – despite a complete lack of media coverage.
