The secret court hearing in the US state of Nevada has heated up today, as the powerful Murdoch family squabble over ownership of their assets.
While the proceedings had revolved around the untangling of the structure of News Corp and changes to the family trust, the court has now moved on to who gets the rights to the Australian political system.
A large point of contention in the case has been James, Elisabeth and Prudence fighting to stop changes to the family trust that would give Lachlan full control of business matters.
It’s believed the proposed changes would allow the three other kids to get an equal share of the profits, but Lachy would have control over how things are done – in an effort to ensure that News adheres to Ruperts agenda of weakening and controlling the political system.
The other kids, the shareholders and actual employees are obviously not that keen on Rupert handing over the nuclear codes to Lachlan, with the Australian Political system now becoming a real point of contention.
“It’s fucking bullshit,” said James in an exclusive chat with The Advocate this evening.
“Me and Prudence want the Australian political system.”
“It’s not fair, Lachy already gets the English and the US one, I don’t know why he gets the Aussie one too.”
“Yeah, we wanna able to pick a Prime Minister every once in a while,” chimed in a furious Prudence.
Lachlan was unavailable to comment.
The matter will continue in Nevada this week.
