With four NRL players being handed a total of $120,000 worth of fines for breaching social distancing, the National Rugby League has been put in the awkward position of having to act like they weren’t expecting worse.
One of the last sporting codes to shut up shop, COVID-19 and social distancing has revealed the NRL must really be as wealthy as their players are sensible.
After harsh words from Channel 9 and a new CEO, the NRL was ready to get back to defending their employee network but weren’t prepared for how mild the drama would be.
“We are disappointed to learn that 40 players have broken social distan-wait four, not 40, is that right? Only four?” stated NRL Chairman Peter V’Landys.
“Just four? That’s actually not that bad but – disappointing yes, very disappointing, we’re so very disappointed in those 40-sorry, four players.”
One NRL fan who has come to the defence of the players is NRL Instagram influencer @micksdrivingtalks who is known for his vocal opinions on the code.
“Alright I’m going to say it, not that bad,” stated Mick as he drove one-handed holding his phone.
“Everything that’s happened so far is actually pretty wholesome. You know what footy players get up to on Mad Monday right? Youse actually need to chill.”
MORE TO COME.
