As the waves of nostalgia continue to wash over the nation, a man from our very own Betoota Heights has gone all in on the trend.
Speaking to The Advocate from the car park of the Dan Murphys on Smith Street in the heart of our town’s aspirational pebblecrete suburb – Jayden Ainsley says he’s really leaning in.
“Haha yeah, new is old, old is new, craft is mass, mass is real,” said the finance bro from our town’s CBD, who prides himself on being across the latest social trends.
“So I’m in my nostalgia era.”
“I know the eras change on a weekly basis these days, so I’ve decided to lean back into a time when eras lasted decades.”
“It’s much, much easier if you ask me.”
The man who now gets around in a 1992 Ford Falcon XF that he managed to pry out of his old man’s hands, explained that he just likes the throwback to simpler times.
“Mate, when houses were worth a couple of year’s wages, Hoges was the king of the screen and the footy jerseys were baggy and daggy,” said Ainsley.
Also the proud owner of his dad’s late 80s Betoota Dolphins Jerseys, Ainsley explained that his new aesthetic also applies to his choice in grog.
“Yeah mate, I’m a Fosters guys now,” he laughed.
“Blue and golds.”
“Classic and simple.”
When asked when he was sorting out the mullet Ainsley laughed.
“Look, that’s actually become something that’s a little bit too over done if you ask me.”
