Claims that the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine is only around 63% effective are unfounded and don’t worry, she’ll be right, according to the government.
Speaking this morning in Canberra, Health Minister Greg Hunt and the nation’s cheif medical officer Professor Paul Kelly said there’s nothing to be concerned about.
“She’ll be right,” said Mr Hunt.
“The Thereputic Goods Administration is just waiting on more data. People should just relax, we’ve got this under control.”
The news comes as some scientists raised concerns earlier this week that the vaccine won’t be effective enough to provide ‘herd immunity’ to the population, making the whole exercise of getting the vaccine redundant.
One of these so-called naysayers is Professor Dick Gravy from the South Betoota Polytechnic College School of Infectious Diseases.
Professor Gravy said in the data he’s managed to find by himself on the internet, we need to come up with a better solution.
However, Professor Gravy declined to go on record for this article.
