NSW Opposition Leader Mike Spokeman has turned up to work today without any shoes on, telling waiting media that he forgot to put them on this morning.
“Whoops,” he said.
“I can’t believe this happened. We are so short-staffed at the moment, things like this are bound to occur. I will tape my shoes to the back of my front door this evening when I get home to make sure I don’t leave the house without them again.”
It comes just a day after the NSW Liberal Party forgot to nominate candidates in the state’s upcoming local elections. The abject failure of leadership and the subsequent brain-bending embarrassment brought upon the party by that only makes things worse for Mr Spokeman.
In response to the utter disaster on the other side of the chamber, the NSW Premier Chris Minns just shook his head then made the announcement that he wants to cut the red tape around letting people enjoy a schooner on the footpath outside a pub.
Nevertheless, the fate of Liberal candidates in the upcoming local elections in NSW remains up in the air with some in the party wondering if they’ll have to run them as independents.
The Advocate spoke to a Sydney-based Liberal supporter about the electoral farce and their words summed the situation up better than most.
“It makes it hard for people to take us seriously,” they said.
They wanted to point out that they don’t used ‘they/them’ pronouns, the use of ‘they’ in this context is to degender them for anonymity.
“If we can’t organise for candidates to be on ballots, can people trust us to do anything? It’s so embarrassing. Having lefties mock you for supporting a party lead by a president than couldn’t organise a piss in a shower. It boils my piss, it does.”
More to come.
