In a rare display of vulnerability, local father of two Gen Z daughters, Greg Thompson (50), has bravely ventured into uncharted territory by actually asking his daughters about something he’s confused about, Brat Summer.

The 50 year old accountant, who has spent the last decade brushing off any young trend he doesn’t understand, has been forced to concede that he’s a bit curious about this trend that has been embraced by half of the American political establishment.

“At first, I thought ‘Brat Summer’ was some sort of new bratwurst grilling technique for the upcoming BBQ season” confessed Greg, scratching his head.

“But then I noticed it had nothing to do with sausages or BBQs. I was lost.”

One of Greg’s daughters, Nina (23), has been fully immersed in the trend for weeks, and is proud to let people know she’s one of Charli XCX’s day 1 fans.

“Yeah, It’s annoying because I was a fan of Charli since Sucker and now it seems like the whole world is just finding out about her now, the album is slay so it makes sense”

When asked why the hyper-pop album has taken such a grip of the online world, Nina says it’s simple.

“Oh Charli XCX fans are just chronically online that’s all.”

The phenomenon, which revolves around embracing a carefree, rebellious spirit inspired by Charli XCX’s music and persona, has taken over their social media feeds as high up as the US presidential race.

When Greg was informed about the origins, meaning and the importance of the trend, he was left with more questions than answers.

“So this is just some album? What’s the joke? What does this have to do with politics?” Said the confused father.
