A local family’s decision to host a New Years Eve Party has seen their household being commandeered by a drove of the dumbest blokes in town.
After a week of nagging from their now adult kids, parents Stu and Su Neeson have both relented and offered up their house for a countdown party.
But there are rules. The front deck will be for parents only. And nobody is allowed near Stu’s grog. In fact, nobody is allowed near any glassware in general. The pizzas will need to be ordered the day before.
The DJ can play until 2am MAX. It’s a BYO, and if anyone wants to smoke, they can do it out of sight.
With two daughters and a son, the upstairs bedrooms have been designated for females. The boys can sleep wherever they land, but all car keys will be confiscated upon arrival.
This condition of entry is fine by the guests, as the female guests are all expecting rides home tomorrow. So it would be better if the blokes were still there in the morning.
But there is to be no crossover between the upstairs guests and the downstairs guests. There will be no fornicating under this roof.
In fact, it would be a better rule if the boys sleep outside and the girls sleep inside, but there is always a chance of a storm round this time of the year.
The boys make peace with the rules, and begin carving out floor space in the living room, study and kitchen.
By the time the matriarch of the household, Sue, figures out what’s going on, it’s too late.
“Boys can we move some of these swags onto the veranda?” she asks.
This is met with protest. Apparently the mozzies will keep them awake.
“What is the point of having swags if you can’t cop the outdoors?” she queries.
“Nathan I’ve seen you at the end of the night before, I don’t think a mozzie bite should be your biggest concern”
After a bit of whingeing and charming, the hosts agree that these clowns can sleep in the house. But the kitchen is a no go zone. The foot of the stairs is reserved for the dog.
