One of Australia’s greatest cricketers has this weekend continued providing the nation with highlight worthy moments.

Former opener and Test captain Mark ‘Tubby’ Taylor has done so by offering the soundtrack to the Olympic Gold Medal events.

While cricket isn’t in the Olympics until 2028, the king of Fujitsu is wowing Olympic viewers with his diverse and unique understanding of a number of other speciality events he is commentating on.

Particularly, the diving.

Tubby has impressed with his unique understanding of pikes, arm stands and reverse tucks.

That specialised knowledge of diving has seen him give the Chinese fellas the tick of approval last night in the 10 metre synchronised diving competition.

China’s Yang Hao and Lian Junjie won the gold medal in the men’s synchronised 10 metre platform event last night, with a breath taking display.

The pair led from the first round and finished on 490.35 points, ahead of Great Britain and Canada.

On top of the Gold Medal, the pair were given the highest honour of all – glowing praise from a former Test cricket captain of Australia.

“That was simply brilliant,” explained Tubby to The Advocate this morning.

“What they just did was like the perfect cover drive.”

“Balance, poise and execution at a million miles an hour.”

“Great stuff.”

It’s unknown what events Tubby will be moving onto through the Olympics, with many viewers hoping he can call the Badminton and European handball while he’s at it.

More to come.
