After a night a jolly storytelling, eating and drinking – a local bloke has decided to pull out a guitar.
With the mood around the campfire now cheerful enough to initiate a sing-a-long, guitar-owner Brett Gooley (30) wants to get at least one solo song in first before it’s no longer about him.
With the pressure on for his first song, Brett is struggling to get the chords right for Jack Johnson’s ‘Taylor’.
His rusty start to the evening’s music is glazed over with his guitarist-style way of quietly talking about the chords that he’s having trouble finding.
“Nah wait”
“Wait. There it is”
“Wait up”
“Wait”
“Just… Wait”
“Fuck. Wait up”
This continues throughout several more false starts before he breaks into song, in a slight Hawaiian accent.
“They say Taylor was a good girl, never one to be late
Complain, express ideas in her brain
Working on the night shift, passing out the tickets
You’re gonna have to pay her if you want to park here”
The song, while popular, is a clever pick for Brett, as not many people know the actual words to the verses. However, he is growing nervous at the number of people he sees looking over to his mate Jack, who is well known for his rendition of Tenacious D’s ‘Tribute’.
