A local Covid conscious Mum has begun actioning her corona-safety plan, stapling a QR check-in to the front fence of a family backyard pool.
For Betoota Heights mother of three, Sandra Narellan (53), the implementation of the check-in system is just phase one of her self devised, ‘Pandemic Protection Plan’.
Speaking to The Advocate, Narellan said the new QR code was all about keeping her family safe during the upcoming silly season.
“As soon as December hits, we get all types coming through our house, so a QR code on the pool gate is all about keeping tabs of the comings and goings of everyone,” said Narellan.
“We’re the only house on the block that has a pool, so naturally my teenage kids invite half the neighbourhood over for a dip and some Jatz in the backyard cabana.”
“It’s fine, I like to be welcoming, but this year we’re gonna do it safely!”
The addition of the QR code on the pool fence is just one of three rules Narellan plans to keep an eye on this year around.
Reading off a laminated word document, Narellan has confided to The Advocate she’ll be asking all three teenage children to read and sign the Summer contract or risk losing their iPhones for a month.
“The first rule of the pool is ‘ALL swimmers must check-in”.
“The second is ‘NO wet towels on the wicker furniture”.
“And lastly ‘NO GLASS IN OR AROUND THE POOL!”
When asked about the issue of ‘Non-vaccinated patrons’, Narellan said she was firm in her strict ‘No Jab, No Play’ policy.
‘Look, I’ve already had to have a word with my youngest Liam, he’s made a friend with the Jenkins kid down the road and that Southern Cross sticker on their family car is a sign we might have some trouble.”
“But there’s no way that boy is coming into our house without proper protections, so either he gets jabbed or he’ll be sweatin’ all summer long. And that’s final!”
