The dust settles on the second biggest country music festival in the world, the region of Tamworth is once again buzzing with tales from the last couple of weeks.

With 40,000 descending on the Tamworth Country Music Festival for its 53rd year running, revellers have once again enjoyed an old fashioned good time in the heart of the New England.

As usual the iconic festival saw a raft of musicians at various stages of their careers strut their stuff, as well as a bunch of awards and honours handed out.

One of those recognised for their contribution to country music in Australia and abroad was the Caboolture Kid, Keith Urban.

On top of being inducted onto the Roll Of Renown at the festival, Urban also stopped in for a surprise show at The Tamworth.

Despite having a capacity of a few hundred, it’s believed that nearly 40,000 people actually managed to catch the iconic Queenslander perform at the venue.

“Yeah mate, hell of a show,” explained festival goer Morgan Coombs (38).

“Pretty intimate too actually,” continued the man who was apparently there with the rest of the entire festival.

While the exact numbers can’t be confirmed on the spontaneous Tamworth show, it can be confirmed that Betoota Advocate was also in attendance of a recent Keith Urban show.

This comes after Urban popped in to Desert Rock FM studios to chat to the podcast about the life and times of one of the faces of country music.

Listen to that chat on Spotify now, or wherever you get your podcasts.
