Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has rinsed down the Victorian government this week, as he criticises Premier Daniel Andrews for his handling of the state’s coronavirus lockdown.
JoFry says that by being unable to outline a pathway out of tough restrictions, Daniel Andrew is failing in his duty as Premier.
Melbourne’s Stage 4 restrictions are due to end in two weeks, but Mr Frydenberg warns businesses and Victorians are being “kept in the dark” by Mr Andrews’ response, saying the premier must provide more clarity as to when this historical event will end.
“This has to be the biggest public policy failure by a state government in living memory,” he told reporters on Monday.
“I will call it out – the prime minister will call it out.”
JoFry also shared his blunt assessment that the “litany of failures” that lead to the state’s surge in cases could be described as a “slow motion car crash”.
He says that as a resident of Victoria himself, this pandemic that none of his state Liberal colleagues took seriously four months ago in their efforts to undermine expert medical directives – while Federal Government operated aged care homes spread COVID-19 amongst it’s vulnerable residents like wildfire, frustrates him.

“And no, I don’t want to hear anything about what more we could be doing at a Federal level”
“I don’t want to hear about the nearly 500 aged care residents who have died as a result of COVID-19, which our Federal minister for aged care was seemingly unable to recall”
“I want Daniel Andrews to inform us of when he plans to simply stop these outbreaks so Victorians can go back to being unemployed in parks and cafes instead of their living rooms!”
