US entertainer Taylor Swift has made a rare political statement today, telling her 230 million followers to vote for who represents them the best.
On top of that divisive message, the 34-year-old billionaire went on to implore her American Swifties to register to vote and make their vote count in the upcoming US Election later this year.
While people on both sides of the political divide have called on Ms. Swift to make a decision regarding which brain-dead old man they should support come November, it’s failed to antagonize anyone in a meaningful way.
Ms. Swift did make a statement that criticized then-President Donald Trump when he suggested looters during the 2020 civil unrest in the US should be shot on sight. That is why many on the enlightened, correct side of politics have been left scratching their heads as to why the Swift camp hasn’t condemned Trump’s latest push toward the White House.
Public relations professional Darcy Butler from French Quarter consultancy, McKuntley’s, explained to The Advocate that taking sides politically as an entertainer and businesswoman can have a very detrimental impact upon the bottom line.
“It would be naff of a young luminary like Taylor Swift to endorse someone for President. She knows that, and her team knows that,” he said.
“For some, you know, it goes without saying. Actors, directors, musicians, most of them can call Trump a Cheeto-head pantry boy and rest their head knowing that it’s not really going to impact them at all. When you’ve got someone who’s pan-American, someone like Taylor Swift or equivalent, then you need to appear to be above politics to really print money on a commercial scale,”
“The same goes for here. Would you still love Steve Irwin if you know he voted for One Nation? What if he did? Don’t worry, he never registered to vote. Steve was truly pan-Australian. Everyone from Blair Cottrell to Adam Bandt still misses him. You can’t do that if you’re politically partisan. So don’t expect anything of substance to come from Taylor Swift regarding this election; it’s bad for business.”
More to come.
