The nation’s treasurer has today offered The Betoota Advocate some exclusive insight into what he is forecasting for the nation’s future.
Treasurer Jim Chalmers has revealed that the country should brace for a 60 minute speech that outlines how he and his party weren’t in power for the last decade.
This comes as the government prepares to hand down its first budget, which Chalmers says is loaded with goodies for families whilst also making necessary cost cutting measures that won’t affect anyone, but will help bring the budget into line.
The first Labor budget in a decade is expected to confirm that we’ll reach a trillion dollars in debt within the next couple of years, something which Chalmers is keen to point out is nothing to do with him.
It’s believed the Treasurer will also confirm that real wages aren’t going to go up until at-least 2024, despite spending an election campaign telling people he and his government would drive them up.
“Technically the budget debt will grow under our watch, but that’s all because of the previous government’s actions,” explained Chalmers today.
“And that’s worth reminding people about,” said the Treasurer of a party that has spent every single day for the last six months reminding people about that.
“So, I’ll be dedicating my first budget night speech to outlining why we have been given a hospital pass and nothing is our fault.”
The opposition has yet to confirm what their budget reply will look like on Thursday, but are reportedly leaning towards claiming that everything is actually Labor’s fault.
