Members of the Construction, Forestry and Maritime Employees Union (CFMEU) protested pay and conditions yesterday across the major capital cities but out on the coast in Brisbane, many disenfranchised Labor voters were introduced to someone many of them hadn’t taken notice of until then.
“Who is this little freak and why is he making a lot of sense?” asked one protestor to our reporter, who spent 20 minutes trying to cross William Street in Brisbane’s CBD yesterday.
“He’s a what? A Greens member. For where? Bullshit! I like how he’s putting the dog up Albanese. Pretty grim how things have turned out. That Jim Chalmers too needs to cut off his fucken little wristbands and pull his socks up. A fucken Greens member, hey?”
It seems Greensland might’ve got a little bit Greener yesterday, as South Brisbane Greens MP Max Chandler-Mather appeared to be the only Federal politician to appear on stage at any of the massive protests that rallied in support of the embattled unions across the country.
Even as ABC’s 730 host Sarah Ferguson, who routinely poses for photos with the likes of criminal conspirators like Steve Bannon and Clive Palmer, attempted to smear the Greens MP with the same brush of criminality that the entire CFMEU has been drenched in, the 32-year-old remained steadfast in his support for the Australian workers.
“They just want better pay and conditions,” he said.
“Why is that bad?”
More to come.
