Melbourne Storm coach Craig Bellamy appeared to be entertaining the idea that his side might lose to Penrith in the final minutes of the NRL Grand Final last night.
The rugby league veteran, who has won close to ten premierships as both a player, assistance coach and head coach – was filmed losing his cool several times throughout the last twenty minutes of the muddy Premiership decider.
Bellamy’s profanity-charged rants were on screen for all to see – following a meteoric comeback from the Panthers after finishing the first half scoreless at 22-0.
However, despite his very real fears that his team could go down in the dying moments, the Melbourne Storm went on to keep a 6 point margin at full time.
Unfortunately the final result did very little to save the furniture inside the Melbourne Storm coaches box, as Bellamy reportedly put a boot through over 16 chairs, several tables, two doors, and a 90 inch Samsung TV.
It is also believed a kitchenette was damaged throughout the meltdowns, with reports of a Reece sink being thrown several corporate boxes down the hallway, leaving a trail of plaster behind it.
Today, with a hangover and several of his players unaccounted for in Sydney’s greater Kings Cross area, the 61-year-old coaching maestro has received a bill for $60,000 from ANZ stadium to refurnish the room.
Bellamy has said he’s ashamed of his behaviour last night, but also agrees with his captain and co-coach Cameron Smith’s claims that the match referee was just trying to make for ‘an exciting finish’.
Talking to The Betoota Advocate today, Bellamy says he’ll send The Cheese and The Fox around with a couple brooms to help clean up the mess.
When he finds out where they ended up.
MORE TO COME.
