Australian youth and streetwear retailers have confirmed that they’ve seen a 900% increase in sales of late-2000’s bright coloured v-neck t-shirts since the 2018 Splendour In The Grass Line Up was announced early this morning.
A spokesperson from the popular fashion outlet General Pants says the company has had to make several runs to their storage warehouses, ever since word got around that American rock band, MGMT, would be returning to the North Byron Parklands from Friday July 20 to Sunday July 22.
The band, which is only one year older than the festival itself, has been performing since it’s formation in Middletown, Connecticut in 2002. It was five years later that their Grammy-winning album Oracular Spectacular was released, finding a solid fan base with early millennial Australians.
Prominent hair care manufacturer, GHD, say they have also seen a boost in sales – as young men around the country whip out the hair straighteners and do that spiky mohawk-mullet thing they used to in the clubs.
Female streetwear retailer Supré say they have also seen a spike in fluro colour-blocking bangles and figure-hugging bodycon dresses.
With the addition of Lorde as the headline act, there are expected to be a large number of All Blacks jerseys getting around the campsites, just weeks after their French fixtures.
