Former US President and current 2024 Presidential candidate Donald Trump has said that he was “shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear,” after he was injured during a failed assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania this evening.
In a written statement, Trump said that he “knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening.”
It is believed that the bullet missed Trump’s face by 1cm, in what is being described as a much closer call than the 1981 assassination attempt on President Reagan.
This incident follows a week of headlines about Joe Biden’s cognitive decline, as the current President made multiple on stage gaffes – even going as far as mistaking Ukrainian President Zelensky with Russian President Putin.
With the US Federal Election now 100 days away, today’s attempt on the life of Donald Trump now means the Republican candidate is just as likely to die on stage as his 82-year-old opponent.
There is still 4 more months of this.
