Following recent reports that suggest building thousands and thousands of new high-rises in response to a slowing property market might not be a very good idea, drastic action is being taking to make use of Brisbane’s oversupply of luxury inner-city apartments.
With more than 8000 inner-city apartments under construction and due for completion in the next two years, the state government is working towards creating sustainable back-ups for the vacant skyshells.
“It’s fucked” said Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk.
“The banks didn’t let any of these foreigners secure finance. Now they’ve walked away from their deposits and we’ve got 8000 more of the fucking things going up
“We might just give them to the farmers?”

Betoota based grazier, Jack Pearson said he’d gladly run a few hundred head in the high-rises, seeing as they are basically being given away for free.
“As long as the lift is working” he said.
After visiting the city last August for the Ekka, Jack says he’s not surprised that the Government has had to settle for giving the farmers a go.
“I understand the few people that bought in buy have stopped paying strata due to the mortgage stress of not having any tenants renting from them. All the kids are renting timber sharehouses in Milton”
