Without the pesky CFMEU (Construction, Forestry and Maritime Employees Union) getting in the way.
Liberal Senator and shadow Attorney-General Michaelia Cash has been voicing concerns about corruption in the unions for decades now. So committed is she to exposing this corruption that in 2017 her office even tipped off journalists to an AFP raid of union offices before it even happened.
As a second-generation member of the Liberal Party’s right-wing faction, Senator Cash has always been opposed to the idea of a organised labour movement that protects the lives and families of working Australians. However, throughout the last ten years of Coalition governments, she has not been successful in her efforts to erase them from the face of the earth.
But things have changed this week.
As a parting gift to the Liberal Party, outgoing Nine Chairman and former Coalition treasurer Peter Costello has this week flooded news outlets with allegations that the CFMEU’s Victorian branch has ties to bikies.
Australia’s property developers have today cheered the government’s announcement that an independent administrator will be brought in to tidy up the CFMEU – who they say have shown a complete disregard for helping the rich get richer.
But nobody is celebrating harder than Senator Cash, who has moved to immediately install her dream manufactured stone kitchen benchtop, without the fear of the construction union shutting down the job site.
As a cheaper alternative to proper marble, the manufacturared stone benchtop has caused a shocking number of work-related deaths for the tradesmen breathing in silica dust over the years, and has become a target for CFMEU picketing.
But not anymore. Because the entire CFMEU, from top to bottom, in every state and branch, are now criminals – and everything they do or say should be discredited. According to Senator Cash.
