While social media has had a positive impact on the lives of billions of people, one local Betoota Cove girl is today wishing the digital sphere didn’t exist. Jackie Archdale (27) has had an unfortunate photo album of her year 10 formal resurface thanks to the Facebook memories feature.
Jackie is now questioning how she managed to be so popular in high school as she reminisces on her questionable style choices – orange fake tan, Supré slogan t-shirts and, most regrettably, a 5cm high quiff.
A quiff is a section of hair that’s brushed upwards and backwards from one’s forehead, then secured in place by a generous amount of hair spray.
The Advocate managed to track down Jackie, who is in hiding until hype around the album dies down.
“I mean, I guess I thought I looked good at the time, but I don’t know how I managed to convince myself of that.”
“Also, who let me dress like that?” asked Jackie rhetorically, while looking skyward for answers.
“God and look at my date, he’s in a grey suit with a white leather belt & shoe combo – lucky I’m there to take the heat off him or he would be trying to bury himself too.”
The trip down memory lane proved too much Jackie and she promptly asked our reporters to leave.
The Advocate understands that this is a common phenomenon for any person who was introduced to social media in the mid 2000s, as the parameters for what was appropriate to share were not yet laid out.
More to come.
