The same people that built North Queensland the first time, are back.

This comes as Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Queensland Premier David Crisafulli arrive to inspect the damage of recent storms.

Extra rescue personell, police and boats are arriving in North Queensland today, as locals remain vigilant that there will be another severe weekend of devastation for an already inundated region.

The Bureau of Meteorology has warned of more heavy rainfall that could lead to dangerous and life-threatening flash flooding between Ayr and Tully Friday over the next few days.

Six-hourly rainfall totals between 140 to 200mm are possible. Isolated 24-hourly rainfall totals up to 250mm are possible. Rainfall is expected to increase from late tonight, with isolated heavy falls possible through the remainder of the weekend.

With such extreme weather predicted, the recovery process for local farmlands and infrastructure is yet to begin. But locals remain confident that North Queensland will look like it’s old self in no time, as the Italians arrive.

Prime Minister Albanese joined Crisafulli to announced more flood relief for affected communities, as a critical link to isolated towns temporarily reopens for supplies. The federal government has announced an $8 million for the eight impacted councils, and hope the community relief fund will help restore North Queensland to it’s former glory.

“This will provide councils with the financial assurance that they need to get on with the business of cleaning up and making their communities safe,” Mr Albanese said, as he sipped a lemoncello and XXXX shandy.

This is not the first time the Italians have arrived with the manpower to build railroads, farm sugar cane, and invent rugby league.

The Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment will open from 2pm on Thursday, with $1,000 payments for eligible adults and $400 for children in Hinchinbrook, Cardwell and Giru.
