With close to 200k new Omicron cases recorded in the last 24 hours, Australians are once again marvelling at how their Prime Minister can continue to exploit sports stars in an effort to generate some good will with the media and general public.
And as usual, these efforts to distract the news cycle from his incompetence has once again blown back in his face.
Just like the AUKUS submarine stunt that was aimed at distracting us from his bungled AZ roll-out actually ended up resulting in both the French President and the White House calling him a liar at the Glasgow Climate Summit – Scotty’s new strategy of detained the World Tennis number 1 Novak Djokovic has also blown back in his face.
Scotty’s plan to vilify the 35-year-old Serb for his visa issues – to take the spotlight off his inability to procure enough RAT tests – has actually resulted in the entire world taking a closer look at our immigration policy.
This comes after Djokovic was detained in the Park Hotel alongside other stateless refugees who have been locked up in the middle of Melbourne’s CBD for 9 years… ever since Scotty was Tony Abbott’s immigration minister.
However, it was yesterday’s decision to appear in the SCG commentary box on Jane McGrath day at the Sydney Ashes test that has really left Australians lost for words at the supreme incompetence shown by our Prime Minister.
It didn’t take long for Morrison to detract from any discussions about the McGrath foundation, or even the cricket, opting to begin regaling the world with his self pity.
“At the moment my schedule is heavily dependent on Covid and we’ve got many challenges there as we know at the moment” said Scotty From Marketing.
“But this is Australia living with the virus, look at out there and Australians are taking wickets with the virus.”
The iconic former Australian wicketkeeper turned commentator Adam Gilchrist gave a guarded chuckle at this comment, but appeared very confused, before quickly changing the subject back to the fundraising efforts.
Australians, as a whole, have effectively been speechless since this moment, as hundreds of thousands of businesses close one-by-one as a result of lack of healthcare resources in the height of this Summer outbreak that experts warned him about.
Finally, after nearly 24 hours of disbelief, it seems the nation has finally formulated a response to this kind of tone deaf political spin.
“It’s hard to put this into words” says Australia, from both sides of the political spectrum.
“But every single day, your incompetence astounds us”
