With the Liberal Party now in opposition in every government on the mainland, the once lucrative employment opportunities for former Coalition MPs appear to be drying up.

In the wake of the pandemic chaos and the final lap of Scott Morrison’s disastrous term as Prime Minister, Tasmania remains the last Liberal Government in power – and only just.

With corporate Australia also unwilling to assert any close ties to the binfire of knee-jerk infrastructual policies and vote-repellent race baiting, it seems that even the Liberal Party’s top brass are unable to find work in the usual fields of consulting, banking or energy.

This unelectability appears to have also bled into a unemployability for anyone associated with the Liberal Party brand, as showcased by Scotty From Marketing’s inability to land a job anywhere outside of Evangelical Christian speaking gigs.

With Morrison not even able to retain his ‘number 1 ticketholder’ status at the Cronulla Sharks, let alone gain membership of the exclusive Australian club – it is no surprise that Liberal party heavyweights that held lower profile positions are unable to find work after departing politics.

This comes as former NSW Liberal Treasurer Matt Kean has had to use his relationship with political rivals to land a job after washing himself of the Coalition and it’s lurch to the far-right.

In news that has sickened Dutton and the rest of the old guard who think climate change is a myth and the black summer bushfires were caused by RFS firebugs, Kean will chair the nation’s top climate policy body.

Prime Minister Albanese’s decision to employ a Liberal to challenge the Federal Opposition’s delusional nuclear energy strategy is an interesting move, however the most interesting aspect about this entire appointment is that the coalition is so fucked that one of their former state treasurers would even entertain this offer.

Kean resigned from NSW parliament last week after serving as a pro-renewables energy minister for four years, which actually means he’s qualified to lead the Independent Climate Change Authority. This also marks the first time a Liberal MP has left politics to take a job that he is actually the best man for.
