Controversial local Catholic priest, Father Ricepell, has today embarrassed both himself and an anonymous penitent – who had approached the confession booth to seek penance for historical sex crimes.

Father Ricepell, who was recently moved to the Diamantina area after running into ‘a mischief’ in Tamworth several years ago – was left confused by the man’s admission that he had actively crossed the line of sexual consent in several circumstances over the last few decades.

In Catholic teaching, the Sacrament of Penance is the method of the Church by which individual men and women may confess sins committed after baptism and have them absolved by God through the administration of a Priest.

“I should have just forgiven him. That’s what he was there for” said the Father.

“Instead, I offered him a job! He really wasn’t expecting that”

With the highest-ranking Catholic in Australia currently facing charges in Victoria for child sex crimes, and the Royal Commission’s findings that over 20% of clergymen over the last century have been involved in child abuse crimes – Father Ricepell says its easy to mistake pedophiles for aspiring priests.

“He wasn’t interested. Even when I mentioned the job perks”

“I told him all he needs to do is begin drinking heavily and actively speak out against gay marriage – and then maybe we can find him some work”

“He seems to have everything else sorted. An undying sense of guilt and a lust for the vulnerable”

The Royal Commission Into Institutional Response To Child Abuse has found that more than 20 per cent of the members of some Catholic institutions were allegedly involved in child sexual abuse.

A report has found nearly 2,000 Catholic Church figures, including priests, religious brothers, sisters, and employees, were identified as alleged perpetrators.

The fact that this number constitutes “a little bit more than a few” means that the Church must now refer to the minority of clergymen that have a habit of molesting children as “roughly twenty percent”.

“Anyway. He left here in a bit of a huff. I told him to give me a call when he’s ready to wear the cloth”
