An amazing new feature on the social media platform Facebook has been praised around the world for it’s ability to leave users in a state of nostalgia.
The “Facebook Memories” feature reminds users of certain moments in their life, to the day.
“Whether they like it or not, we are reminding them of what they were doing on this exact day in years past,” says Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
“Not only are we making them feel like they have lived the entire last decade of their life through a website, but we are letting them know that they haven’t always been as cool as they now think they are,”
Local Facebook user, Lawson Bentinck says he can’t beleive some of the shit Facebook keeps throwing at him.
“They asked me this morning if I wanted to share a picture from schoolies week in 2008… It was in my photo album archives. It was a photo of me doing a beer bong while naked on a Surfers Paradise balcony,”
“Of course I didn’t want to fucking share it. I deleted it straight away… It was eight years ago. I’m surprised Facebook even let me post that photo back then, my cock was out and everything,”
Another emotionally crippling element to the “Facebook Memories” feature is the fact that users will constantly be reminded of the fun times they shared with past lovers. Olivia Preston says if she sees one more old photo of herself hugging an ex boyfriend on her newsfeed, she’s probably going to book herself in.
“It’s actually quite upsetting. I had no idea when I first started using Facebook all those years ago that I was going to have to deal with this kind of baggage…”
“I just want them to leave me the fuck alone,”
“I only look at Facebook for 4 or 5 minutes a day but they still have time to remind me of the time my ex-boyfriend and I bought matching fedoras and rode around the Wynnum boardwalk on a tandem bike.”
