The fact that her best friend has already stated that this conversation is going to require her full attention, hasn’t stopped local girl Christina Madden from playing the ‘no way card.’
“No wayyy” she says.
“Seriously?”
The topic of conversation, which has been completely lost on Christina after she sent three whole messages someone she works with, continues to flow – even though she is quite clearly trying her hardest to rapidly regather what her friend was saying before she drifted off.
According to the Australian Institute For Conversation Flow (AIFCF) – The No Way Card, also known as The Wowww Card, and the That’s Crazyyy Card in Victoria – is being used by more and more screen-addicted Australians than ever.
The ignored friend in question, Jen, is skeptical that Christina is even listening to her talk about something her sister’s friend said at lunch on Sunday – and how she thinks that it’s quite telling of a greater issue that involves her sister and her sister’s friends – and pretty much anyone two to three years younger than them.
“Are you listening ask Jen?”
Even in her subconscious state, Christina is able to pick up on the inflexion of the question.
“What?”
“No”
“Yeah. Of course”
“Go on”
