The game’s CEO Todd Greenberg did so this afternoon at a press conference where he announced that the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs would have to pay a $250,000 dollar fine for bringing the game into disrepute.
Standing in front of an incredibly high horse, which he reportedly rode into the conference on, the Former Bulldogs CEO said that the players and officials at the club had disgraced the game by sinking a few tins out on the balcony of a licensed venue.
“The actions of some players and officials were inexcusable and we are determined to send a message that it will not be tolerated on this occasion – or in the future,” the CEO of an organisation that’s allowed players to develop CTE for decades said.
“To have this kind of incident on the eve of our finals is more than disappointing and there has to be a deterrent to ensure we have no repeat of this behaviour,” explained Greenberg, the boss of a code who is yet to make it compulsory for players to attain some form of qualifications outside of football.
The statement came in front of the high horse, after the fall out from the Bulldogs Mad Monday celebrations continues, whereby a group of elite rugby league players got on the sauce in a controlled environment and miraculously didn’t harm anyone.
Greenberg said that while the players didn’t actually harm anyone, two blokes stripping down out of their kit in front of their mates was totally unacceptable, unless it’s on the Footy Show.
Buzz Rothfield has also since penned another opinion piece about the issue, from inside his state of the art glasshouse in Cronulla, where he calls the Bulldogs a disgrace.
More to come.
