The NSW Government has today come out in defence of their most supportive donors and policymakers at the Hillsong Church, after the Pentecostal Christians face backlash from the greater public.
This comes as social media is littered by videos showing thousands of youth members dancing to Christian rock bands last night in Sydney, showcasing a blatant double standard between church events and the arts.
Right across Australia, the events sector is being crippled by the omicron outbreak – with dancing and singing banned in live music venues, as well as indoor mask mandates at pubs and clubs.
Even the Australian Open ticket sales have been paused at 50% capacity, a sign of just how grim things have become if even our sporting events are towing the line with socially distancing measures.
However, the Hillsong Youth ‘Wildlife Summer Camp’ faced no restrictions in Sydney last night, as the dorky happy clapper kids gathered together to worship Jesus through joining arms and banging their heads to deodorised guitar riffs.
The NSW Government, after having just effectively shut down every hospitality venue in the state with new rules and zero financial support, are today defending the exemptions that were given to their favourite Church.
“It’s not the same” said NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard.

NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet agrees, and reiterated the difference between the arts and the church.
“We all know Christians aren’t going to spread the virus amongst themselves. You can’t catch the virus from pushing your crotch up against someone else’s crotch out of wedlock.”
