Scotty from Marketing has stood by his decision to take his family on holiday to Hawaii, claiming he “needs some fresh air”.
The Member for Cook also pointed out that his daughters would appreciate swimming in a beach not covered in smoke like back in Cronulla.
The Prime Minister has jetted off to Hawaii for a much needed break after an arduous few weeks breathing in the smoke from the bushfires that have crippled rural communities, razed a thousand Australian homes, killed six Australian humans and rendered Koalas functionally extinct.
With a wry grin to reporters as he pushed back against comparisons to Nero, Morrison struck a couple of chords on a ukulele and hummed a few lines of “somewhere over the rainbow” whilst gazing listlessly into the garden at his resort in Honolulu.

The RFS volunteer was quick to defend the Prime Minister “we haven’t slept in a few days defending the towns up here, but I reckon he’d have it pretty hard with the jet lag and taking young kids on a holiday is always tough”

Other volunteer fireys up the Blue Mountains have also lended their support to the embattled Prime Minister who has given a nationwide school chaplaincy program equivalent to half the NSW RFS funding.
“Good on him. It’s been a tough year for him with the whole election campaign and stuff.” says local firey, Elliot.
“It’s a hard position to be in, but he wants to be there and I think he deserves a holiday”
