Prime Minister Scott Morrison has paid tribute to NSW firefighters as crews try to contain dozens of bushfires across the state before temperatures soar later this week.

This comes less than a day after he gave a terrifyingly reaganist press conference in which he declared that the rural fire fighters tackling the blazes ‘wanted to be there’ and were suitably resourced – despite having to take leave from work and crowd-funding for financial support on local community facebook pages.

There were 85 fires burning across NSW on Tuesday, and 42 were uncontrolled. With predictions of temperatures surpassing 40C and a wind change for the afternoon, firefighters expected conditions to deteriorate.

Yesterday Morrison rejected suggestions that volunteer firefighters should be getting paid for their time-off work. However, today’s turn around suggest his office may have run a qualitative data focus group and gauged that the majority of the nation thinks that our fire fighters need all the help they can get.

Today, the Government changed their position. Not so much on the fact that they’ve admitted that maybe burning fossil fuels into the atmosphere at an accelerating rate for 300 years might be what causes these disasters. That conversation remains off the table.

The government has, however, admitted that the fireys need a bit more support. So today he’s met with them to make an announcement.

Scotty from Marketing visited an RFS Control Centre this morning to give a briefing and update them on their rights as employers to decide against hiring someone based on their sexual orientation.

“I understand Australia’s Rural Fire Service roughly comprises more than 71,000 brave souls” said Morrison

“I’ve also been informed that crews are working 12-hour shifts and travelling two hours each way to reach fire grounds, meaning they are working 16 hour days.” he said.

“The last thing these brave people need is to be pushed around by political correctness”

“Which is why I chose yesterday afternoon to announce my proposed changes to the Religious Discrimination Bill in the smoke-covered lGBTI-apologist Sydney CBD”

“Employers like this one should be allowed to fire, or refuse to hire people on their grounds of their religious beliefs”

“If you do not want to gay people out there fighting fires, then that is your choice”

RFS officials were then tasked with explaining to Morrison that their organisation was made up of only 900 paid staff and 70,000 unpaid volunteers – and that they are more than willing to hire the gays because they’d be far more fucking useful than his thoughts and prayers.
