“Ding dong. The bitch is dead [haha]” said Thom Swanson (31, Surry Hills).
The one-of-three social media managers for an ABC 2 comedy program that no one watches says he doesn’t want to sound like a jerk, but man that Liberal party shill really had to go.
“Like, I don’t wanna sound sexist or anything. But man she was a bitch”
He is of course, talking about former Google and Foxtel executive, Michelle Guthrie. The former Managing Director of the public broadcaster who was sacked from her position yesterday after 12 months in the job, right in the midst of restructuring the public broadcaster’s digital strategy.
Thom, who’s job is to create relatable content for a whole range of Australians, some that don’t even live in four-person terrace sharehouses in inner-city Sydney, says Guthrie had no idea how to do her job.
The deadwood son of two other ABC employees has been a staunch union member since his first day on the job which was handed to him after graduating from Arts at Sydney uni, and as his role rapidly becomes less and less relevant with the decline in nightly TV viewers, Thom became more and more suspicious of Guthrie.
He was terrified that was going to show him a redundancy package, or even worse, upskill”
“Can you believe she tried to limit smoke breaks” he said.
“From day one, she walked in here on a power trip. Ummm, this isn’t News Corp sweetheart. We have a system here”
This follows the reports that acting managing director David Anderson has denied he was one of the members of Michelle Guthrie’s leadership team that threatened to quit if the board did not replace her, and confirmed his hopes to hold onto the job as the public broadcaster’s boss.
It seems that Thom is relieved to see an internal, straight white male, moved into Guthrie’s position.
“Finally. Some one who has an idea of how WE do things. Stop trying to change shit with all your uppity buzzwords like efficiency and accountability”
“We can see through your jargon darling”
