Australia’s Murdoch media machine is in overdrive today, after recently unearthed footage shows Australia’s US Ambassador and former prime minister Kevin Rudd running his mouth about US President-Elect Donald Trump/

Rudd can be seen describing Trump exactly the way most Australians would’ve expected him to, with terms like “village idiot” and “incoherent”.

The context of these comments being made at the height of a chaotic pandemic have obviously been ommitted from the NewsCorp coverage, as the Murdoch newspapers work tirelessly to compile a list of Rudd’s critical commentary about the incoming US president.

Kevin Rudd’s 2022 appointment as US Ambassador followed his description of Trump as a “political liability”, a “problem for the world” and a “traitor to the west”. Australia’s right-wing newspapers are now doing the best they can to put these comments at the front and centre of Australia’s diplomatic relationship with the United States.

It seems the dream scenario for the Murdoch newspapers would be for Kevin Rudd to be sent home from his diplomatic posting by a furious President Trump, which would in turn be reported as another blow for the Albanese Government.

However, in all of the partisan excitment, it seems Australia’s NewsCorp journalists might not be taking into account that they are in fact conducting a kamikaze mission.

This gleeful celebrations of Rudd’s potential fall-from-grace has proven that Australia’s conservative media pundits suffer from fatal short-sightedness, and an even shorter memory.

It also neglects to account for the fact that their mortal enemy Anthony Albanese actually did them a favour by sending his Labor predecessor to America, which in turn halted Rudd’s very popular campaign for a Royal Commission into the Murdoch family’s media monopoly.

Prior to his appointment, Kevin Rudd had teamed up with former Liberal Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull to do everything within their power to hold NewsCorp accountable for their destruction of Australian media and democracy.

The Murdoch Media’s decision to launch a 300-day assault on Victorian Premier Dan Andrews, while simultaneously presenting Scott Morrison as a terrific Prime Minister, also meant that Rudd and Turnbull had the backing of the vast majority of Australians.

When you consider the fact that Albanese also has the power to crush their last remaining revenue model by banning sports gambling advertisement in commercial media, it would seem that NewsCorp’s shoulders-to-the-wheel efforts to get Peter Dutton elected is bordering on flat out nihilism.

One thing that is for certain, is if Kevin Rudd does gets sacked by Donald Trump, the multimillionaire 67-year-old will dedicate every waking minute of the rest of his life to destroying all of those who campaigned for him to lose his last three jobs.
