After a heavy backlash from viewers, several high profile executives and personalities from Sky News Australia have resigned from the network after an interview with far-right nationalist Blair Cottrell was aired overnight.
The former United Patriots Front leader was invited onto the Adam Giles Show for a studio interview and spoke with the former Northern Territory chief minister about winding back on immigration and protecting countries against “foreign ideologies”.
Within hours of the interview going to air and being shared on various Sky News social media platforms, the channel removed the interview from its repeat timeslots and online platforms.
As the conservative 24 hour news network continues to receive severe backlash online by media commentators both inside and outside their building, youth radio station Triple J are keeping their head low.
It is believed the trendy arm of the public broadcaster are refusing to comment on the Sky News interview with Blair Cottrell, out of fear that the public might remember when they hosted the prominent Australian neo-nazi themselves.
During a HACK Live panel with equally as aryan Triple J host, Tom Tilley, Blair Cottrell was given ample time to perfectly annunciate his racist vitriol, and flex his chest in a tight muscle tee.
When asked for comment on the Sky News incident, Triple J Breakfast news reader Brooke Boney appeared to confuse Blair Cottrell with mid-2000s rnb singer Blu Cantrell – and proceeded to sing the lyrics from her debut single, “Hit ‘Em Up Style (Oops!)”.
