The great travelling showmen of the NRL, The New Zealand Warriors, are today making preparations to pack up and relocate again – as the growing number of community transmissions in NSW edges towards concerning.

After spending several months based out of Tamworth, the possibility of a Melbourne-style lockdown being implemented across Sydney is threatening to postpone the rugby season for a second time.

It is for this reason that the Rugby League commission ‘Saint’ Peter V’Landys, has moved quickly to find the New Zealand Warriors another suitably rural base north of the Tweed.

The entire NRL is now considering relocating the entire competition to Queensland as COVID-19 restrictions begin rolling out again in NSW, with powerbrokers working overnight on a contingency plan to move all 16 teams to Queensland in the coming weeks.

This move comes as yet another inconvenience for the Warriors, who are the only team in the NRL not able to see their family and loved ones for the duration of the recommenced season.

However, V’Landys has today flown to Tamworth to assure the boys that their next temporary hometown will feel just as semi-rural and violent as Auckland does.

“I know Tamworth felt a lot like South Auckland” V’Landys told the Kiwis.

“But wait until you see the place I’ve got teed up for you lot when we move the comp to Queensland”

V’Landys then gave the boys 15 minutes get their bags on the bus, which then shuttled them to the Tamworth regional airport – where they will then be relocated to a prominent coal mining town in Central Queensland.

“They’ve got plenty of accomodation ready to go. Every one of you will get a demountabe donger each and they have a bunch of playstations in the mess hall”

“It’s also a shorter flight from New Zealand when Scotty finally lets your families join ya”

“You boys will love Moranbah”
