Betoota’s very own on Flight Path District has played host to an incredible scene today.
The aptly named Betoota Flight Path Cafe has reportedly turned a profit, for the first time in its 43-year history.
The monumental achievement comes despite the fact the majority of the hospitality sector actually ran at a loss.
While local papou Giannis Costas says the huge result comes off the back of a lucky year, some have pointed out that the occurrence may have something to do with recent social distancing guidelines.
While Giannis managed to keep the doors open during the spicy cough outbreak here in the Channel Country, it’s been confirmed one big operational change did occur.
The small business owner changed from being a cash-only business for the first time in its history.
“Yes, we take cards now,” said Giannis begrudgingly.
“We are slaves to the big banks and the tax man like everybody else,” he said, offering an insight into why he may never have filed a profitable tax return before this year.
“Tap, tap, tap and trace every single move. But not the moves of the big companies, who move money around like one of those magic trick showmen with the cups on the table.”
“Finally, the government wins. They always do in the end,” finished Giannis, before offering us soup of the day.
“Please, do me a review in your ‘Eating Around Town’ lift out of the paper.”
