ALL GROWN UP: A 28 year old local man has wowed onlookers today at the Grind Up Cafe in Betoota’s French Quarter by deviating from his regular order of a cheese toastie and hot chips.
Carrying the lifelong label of ‘picky eater’, Jeremy historically doesn’t eat food that falls outside of the brown colour palette. “And that’s not just at restaurants and stuff”, his girlfriend Charlotte told the Advocate, “it’s also at home, when we visit friends, when we go to his parents house – we have to warn people ahead of time, almost like it’s an allergy”, she laughed but not with her eyes, “he just hates vegetables, fruits, anything wet, anything slimy, anything with garlic, and anything with pepper. Oh! He also calls sparkling water ‘spicy water’”.
However today was one for the books. When his waiter asked what he would like to order for lunch, Jeremy paused for a beat and said “you know what? I’m going to do it. I’m going to order something fancy. Can I have a BLT?”
It is reported that in this moment Jeremy’s girlfriend Charlotte was ‘gobsmacked’.
“I couldn’t believe it! A BLT? My Jeremy? It just blew my mind!”
This joy however was short lived, when her significant other followed up his request with “Hold the T”.
“I should have known a full BLT was too much of a jump. Lettuce AND tomato in one dish? I really wasn’t thinking”.
The newly graduated foodie explained “I just thought it was time to grow up, you know? Everyone’s always making fun of me for being a picky eater, but today… today I showed them”.
The Advocate asked if he enjoyed the brand new culinary adventure of lettuce on bread, to which Jeremy responded “nah, yuck”.
When the Advocate asked Charlotte if Jeremy has any siblings, she replied “no he’s an only child… why?”
More to come.
