Cricket Australia has today been hit with a radical new proposal, just an hour into the Test summer.
With the Australian Cricket team currently sitting pretty at none for 60 odd, fans and stakeholders have called for a massive change up.
Calls have been raised for Cricket Australia to implement a new rule requiring all Australian top order batsmen to retire at 50.
Made popular in backyard cricket, the rule calls on batsman to walk away from the wicket once they strike 50, and is aimed at giving everyone a go at playing.
Unpopular with people like Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith, the rule means that players don’t spend the whole day just trying to get one person out.
The push for the adoption of the equitable policy comes as the nation’s cricket fans face the prospect of another innings and a few hundred run drubbings against Pakistan and the West Indies.
While Australian fans hate losing more than any other nation in the world, it’s believed that comfortable wins are nearly as popular.
The Australian cricketers have yet to respond to the suggestions, but it’s believed Marnus and Smudge and a retiring David Warner are more than likely to hose the idea down.
